What Home Means to Me

Posted on July 1, 2010

This week, I’m delighted to share What Home Means To me as part of the Pin-It-Forward series. Pin-It Forward was created by the lovely Victoria Smith of sfgirlbybay and the founders of Pinterest-a new bookmarking tool to keep all those inspirational clippings organized in one place.  300 bloggers were invited to describe what home means to them. Please visit my Pin-it Forward board and make sure to visit tomorrow’s Pin-It Forward blogger- Your Life You Like It Well.

So without giving too much away-here is a samplng of my interpretation of what home means to me….

Add Hand-Me-Downs. I’ve inherited chairs very similar to these that I love. A home should be filled with items passed down mixed with pieces new and modern.

Add a bar…and throw a party. A home doesn’t feel complete without a small nook (or an entire bar) for an impromptu gathering of friends. Friends always make a home feel comfortable and loved.

Add books and magazines-I adore this image of Jane Mayle’s living room, not only for the well designed bookshelf but also because I love the well-traveled  look of the room-very Style Curator.

Add interesting prints-whether  it’s a pillow or an entire sofa-prints make any room a bit more interesting. More points for mixing prints and patterns.  I love thos print from Tulu Textiles-they are pillows in my living room.
